Huffington Post Column: “It’s Time for an NCAA Ombudsman”

Eric Schmeltzer, a Huffington Post political and communications consultant, authored a November 14, 2011, column, “It’s Time for an NCAA Ombudsman”. Using recent high-profile scandals and infractions cases involving NCAA member institutions, Schmeltzer argues “If now isn’t the time for an independent investigative body to be set up by the NCAA to monitor all of its member schools, when is?” Although Schmeltzer’s characterization and description of the NCAA enforcement and administrative processes are not accurate at times (i.e., confuses the purpose and duty of the infractions committee while ignoring the existence of the enforcement staff), the column is an interesting read from a different perspective.
