NCAA Looking at Revamping NCAA Manual

The Chronicle of Higher Education’s Brad Wolverton authored an April 10, 2012, article, “Leaders Imagine Leaner, Meaner NCAA Rule Book”, in which he discussed the NCAA’s approach to create a streamlined version of the NCAA Manual. James F. Barker, President of Clemson University and head of the NCAA committee charged with revamping the manual, believes that the current version can cut the book in half at a minimum. According to Barker, “we need to regulate less and punish more.” The likely result will be a shift to the institutions in monitoring their collegiate sports programs.

While the committee was supposed to complete its work by the end of August, this has changed to early 2013. The full article can be found via the Chronicle of Higher Education.
