University of Tennessee to Implement Athletic Department Changes

On April 21, 2012, Mike Strange, from GoVolsExtra, published an article discussing the University of Tennessee’s plans to implement a “leaner, more efficient athletic department.” UT athletic director Dave Hart stated, “we’ve set a very clear direction of where we want to go and how we want to get there.” Among the changes include bringing the men’s and women’s departments together, merging men’s and women’s swimming and diving, and laying off 17 employees that will reportedly save the department $2.5 million.
