Tuesday’s Investigation Tips and Best Practices

Buckner continues its ongoing Tuesday series, Investigation Tips and Best Practices. The purpose of this resource is to assist professionals in the offices of general counsel, human resources, internal audit, compliance and other units with conducting internal investigations. This week’s entry is the following:

Review your organization’s policies, procedures and protocols that relate to, or govern, the investigative process. For example, NCAA rules permit a person the right to have legal counsel during an interview. Similarly, collective bargaining agreements usually provide a union member with the right to have a representative present at an interview.
